Order of the eastern star
What is the Eastern Star?
The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world to which both men and women may belong.
The organization was created in the United States in 1850 by Dr. Rob Morris, Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky and "Poet Laureate of Freemasonry."
Dr. Morris felt that all the good in Masonry should not be confined to men. With the help of his wife, Charlotte, he developed the beautiful Order of the Eastern Star. The Initiatory ceremony focuses on selected women of the Bible who demonstrated heroic conduct and high moral values. The five degrees use these examples to teach the Masonic principles of charity, truth and loving kindness --qualities that are as necessary in today's world as they were in the 1800's.
While the Order of the Eastern Star has evolved overtime, it remains rooted in charitable endeavors and fraternal fellowship and offers its members a wide variety of opportunities for personal growth and community involvement. Charities that we support are the Children's Dyslexia Centers, Eastern Star Benevolence (helping members financially when needed), ESTARL (even a person who is not a member, can apply for a scholarship to receive financial assistance for continuing their education to become a minister), Regenerative Medicine, we have sponsored several service dogs, and youth organizations such as Rainbow, Job's Daughters, and DeMolay for the males, Cancer, Diabetes and many other charities.
We meet on the second Tuesday of the month, except January and February, at 7:30 P.M. Our officers are dedicated to excellent ritualistic work. Following the meetings, we fellowship with refreshments and good conversations, enjoying time spent together. If we have sparked your interest, we would be very willing to talk with you more about the Order of the Eastern Star.
