Greetings from Findlay Assembly No. 173,
Like many of our Masonic groups, COVID has put a wrench in our meeting in person. We are staying in touch via Zoom, and we are working on a service project, making ornaments for residents for a couple of our nursing homes in town. The girls are working on them from home. I will porch pick them up and get them delivered. We are remembering those who may be struggling with the holidays, especially our nursing home residents that are not allowed to have visitors. We did manage to fit in an initiation on October 17th, with several Toledo and Fremont Assemblies, just prior to our county and several others turning to level red. We're grateful, as we initiated 5 girls among the districts. It certainly was not our traditional ritualistic floor work, but it was still beautiful and met social distancing and mask requirements and everyone remained safe and healthy. We welcome Lily Payton to our Assembly, she joins us from Upper Sandusky. We are so excited to have her with us. Like all of you, many of our plans are on hold, but we are hoping to be able to get in an installation of officers after the first of the year and on March 14 we are to host the Grand Reception for our Grand Officers. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Lori Schmidt, Grand Deputy for District 8 on the loss of her father to COVID and to the Leatherman family on the loss of Sheri’s father (Mia and Abby’s grandfather) also to COVID. Blessings to you and your family! Happy New Year! Lori Anast Findlay Assembly #173

Greetings from Findlay Assembly No. 173,
It has been a long spring and summer with no meetings. We did do a Zoom meeting with our Sister Assembly, Lima No. 78. We look forward to coming back and look forward to initiating 2 candidates along with some others from Lima and District 10 October 17, 2020. There is a box in the dining room. We are collecting gently used or new shoes. This serves two purposes, an opportunity to raise money for our assembly and to assist those in need of shoes. Our goal is to fill 300 bags. (25 pairs in each bag) We appreciate any help you can give us! Do you know a girl from age 11-19? Talk to her about Rainbow. Need help? Let us know. Sheri Leatherman, MA Lori Anast, author of this update On June 10th, a joint installation was held in Findlay with our Sister Assembly, Lima No. 78. Leslii Silveus was installed by her sister Victoria. It was a special evening, where we also had the honor of having, both the Grand Worthy Advisor and Grand Worthy Associate Advisor of Ohio in attendance, and serving on our installing team, as well. In addition to Leslii being installed, Sister Mia Leatherman was installed into the station of Fidelity and Sister Abby Leatherman was installed into the office of Confidential Observer, along with the officers of Lima into their respective stations.
Leslii’s Bible verses are : Isaiah 40:29 and Psalm 31:24, her theme is Mulan, her symbols are crickets, red paper, lanterns, fireworks, and Mulan characters, her colors are: pink, teal, navy blue, and red. Her flower is the cherry blossom and her quote is “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all” Her Songs “Reflections” and “A Girl Worth Fighting For” Her service Projects will be: Write letters to veterans for Honor Flight, Adopt a Grandparent, Salvation Army Angel Tree, & Assist with the Masonic Christmas Party. Her fundraisers will include Serving Masonic Dinners and a Bake Sale. We will be having a joint inspection with Lima Assembly on June 25th in Lima. At our 1st meeting in July we will be putting finishing touches on things for Grand Assembly. Mia and Mom Rita Follas will be attending Ohio Grand Assembly July 11th-14th. We will not formally meet the remainder of July and August, but will get together for some social events and/or maybe some service projects. If the weather stays clear long enough we will have a pool party. If not, we will find something fun to do. We will meet formally again, beginning September 16th. We will look forward to a new member, Scarlett, joining our assembly sometime in the Fall. There are pamphlets in the Rainbow box at the Complex. Read about us, or visit gorainbow.org or ohiorainbow.org to learn more. Or come to one of our meetings. We meet the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. 1st Monday is ritualistic and 3rd Monday is usually a service or social project, but held at the Complex. Call, text or email me, as sometimes we travel to other assemblies and help them with initiations and special events. Have a wonderful summer! Lori Anast Mother Advisor Since my last update we have welcomed Abby and Mia who were initiated at our Statewide initiation, Abby in April and Mia in November. Both girls did some activities with us, prior to becoming sisters and have jumped in and joined in the fun of service projects and work.
We did a joint inspection with Lima Assembly in late June. All of the girls did a fabulous job, this Mother Advisor could not have been prouder of ALL of the girls, their ritualistic work-it was SUPERB. As one of the older girls said, “this was one of the BEST I have seen or been a part of.” We squeezed in a pool party and cookout with some of our family and some majority members prior to leaving for Grand Assembly. We enjoyed food, conversation and laughs. We had a wonderful time at Grand Assembly in July. Our Grand Officers from our Assembly were the only girls able to attend this year, due to school and sport commitments. Victoria Silveus, Grand Service and Brynn Follas, Grand Confidential Observer made us quite proud representing us on the Grand Floor during Grand Session, and then in some extra activities, Victoria served as Victory on the Grand Cross of Color Team and Brynn served as Second Marshall for the Installation of Officers for our 2018-2019 Grand Officers. Both young ladies were appointed by our Supreme Deputy and represented us exceptionally, as always. Victoria received her majority at Grand Assembly (Graduation) but has agreed to come back and conduct our meetings until the younger members are ready to take over the leadership. Hopefully by now you have seen in the dining room a can that is being used collecting water and pop bottle caps for Cash for Special Olympics. There is also a jar for collecting coins for MADD. Please share your spare change with us to help us help others. Do you know a young girl between age of 11-20? A daughter, granddaughter, niece, neighbor, a young girl at church , that could benefit from the teachings of Rainbow in Love and Service? If so, please send her our way. Lori Anast Mother Advisor Our Assembly is in a rebuilding stage, as our older members leave us to head off for college. We are low in active members right now. Do you know any 11-20 year old girls that would benefit from the teachings of Rainbow? Please talk to them about our Order. We currently meet the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month @ 7:00. With the girl’s extra curricular activities, we sometimes have to change the time or meeting night, so please contact me if you wish to join us.
Lori Anast Mother Advisor Greetings from Rainbow Assembly No. 173
Three girls and 2 adults attended Grand Assembly in July. We came home with two Grand Officers. Victoria Silveus was appointed Grand Service and Brynn Follas Grand Confidential Observer. Brynn received an Honorable Mention on her flag she made for Nevada. Some of us will be participating in the Hancock County Alzheimer’s Walk on Sat. September 16th., which is in support of our Grand Worthy Advisor’s Service Project that is raising funds and awareness of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. On that day, we will also be cleaning windows and trimming bushes at one of the senior citizens home that we adopted. We plan on doing a Rake and Run when the leaves start falling and we will begin a fundraiser of selling mixed bags soon. We hope also to have a bake sale in November or December at the breakfast the first Saturday of the month. Please bring her and her family along, she would get to see a bit about what we are about and see the fun we have in Rainbow at the pool party. Hope to see many of you there! We do not hold formal meetings in July and August, but we do hold some casual fun activities. In the Fall, we will hold a Mixed Bag Fundraiser and some Bake Sales throughout the coming year. We are always looking for new members, Certainly, you know someone at church, a granddaughter, niece, cousin, or neighbor that you could talk to about Rainbow and what this beautiful organization does for young women. You may give them my name, number, and email. Thanks! Have a GREAT summer !! Lori Anast Mother Advisor The Rainbow girls are currently collecting donations for the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
